Ava Marcus is a Chicago native and will be a third-year Honors student at the University of Georgia, pursuing a B.S. in Genetics and Psychology with a minor in Nutritional Sciences. As an aspiring genetic counselor, Ava hopes to advocate for the importance of genetic screening and make complex genetic information more accessible to both the Jewish and broader community.

Driven by a curiosity in genetics, Ava has conducted and presented undergraduate genomics research and serves as the Vice President for UGA's Genetic Education Network and Experience Society. She is committed to serving her community through volunteering as a crisis counselor with Crisis Text Line, leading nutrition education at local elementary schools, and mentoring younger students. In her free time, Ava loves weightlifting, exploring Chicago's coffee shops, and backpacking new countries whenever she gets the chance.

Ava is excited to work with the Sarnoff Center this summer and to promote genetic education in the Jewish community. She looks forward to learning from Sarnoff and JUF's professional network and connecting with her fellow Lewis Interns throughout the summer.
