The Sarnoff Center was proud to participate in the inaugural Chicago Jewish Young Adult Shabbaton, held at Anshe Emet Synagogue in partnership with JUF’s Young Leadership Division (YLD). Participants heard from the Sarnoff Center’s Genetic Counselor on the importance of carrier screening and how the Sarnoff Center makes the process simple, affordable, and accessible. Participants then got creative by building their own candy DNA models, using colorful sweets to represent traits like eye color, height, and Jewish heritage. The activity sparked thoughtful conversations about identity, inheritance, and the role of genetic health in shaping our future.
