Center for Genetics and Society
The Center is a nonprofit information and public affairs organization working to encourage responsible uses and effective societal governance of the new human genetic and reproductive technologies. The Center works with a growing network of scientists, health professionals, civil society leaders and others.

Centers for Disease Control Office of Public Health Genomics
The OPHG promotes the integration of genomics into public health research, policy, and practice in order to improve the lives and health of all people. Public Health Genomics is an emerging field that assesses the impact of genes and their interaction with behavior, diet and the environment on population health. This site also provides weekly updates about the impact of human genomic research on disease prevention and population health.

Council for Responsible Genetics
The CRG puts out a magazine, GeneWatch, dedicated to monitoring biotechnology's social, ethical and environmental consequences focusing on a broad spectrum of issues, from genetically engineered foods to biological weapons, genetic privacy and discrimination, reproductive technologies and human cloning.

DisabilityInfo.gov: Children with Disabilities
The Children with Disabilities site offers families, service providers and other interested individuals information about advocacy, education, employment, health, housing, recreation, technical assistance and transportation covering a broad array of developmental, physical and emotional disabilities. Includes links to resources in every state.

The DNA Files
Winner of the 2002 Peabody Award, this site is part of National Public Radio's DNA Files program. The DNA Files is a series of radio programs hosted by John Hockenberry and is guided by an outstanding panel of advisors. The programs explore not only the science of genetics, but its ethical, social and legal implications.

DNA PBS
This PBS production provides a comprehensive history of DNA science, from the discovery of the double helix structure to the mapping of the human genome to the latest research. The site also provides material for teachers as well as resource for the general public.

Gateway to U.S. Government Science and Technology Resources
Science.gov is a gateway to government science information and research results. The site provides a search of over 38 scientific databases and 200 million pages of science information with just one query, and is a gateway to more than 1,900 scientific websites.

Human Genome Project Information
The education section of the Human Genome Project Information Site provides teaching aids, videos, primers, posters and various other educational materials for teachers, students, and the community.

March of Dimes Foundation 
March of Dimes aims to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality through increased research, community services, education and advocacy. The organization also has a Spanish-language site.

National Cancer Institute
The NCI provides resources to members of the community regarding all types of cancers. It is a website maintained by the government and is available in English and Spanish.

National Human Genome Research Institute
The NHGRI site is part of the Genome Project. The human genome has been mapped and this site provides relevant information.

National Library of Medicine: Genes and Disease
The Genes and Disease page of the NLM provides a visual mapping of the human genome, chromosome by chromosome.

Nature.com: Omics Gateway
The Omics Gateway provides life scientists a convenient portal into publications relevant to large-scale biology from journals throughout the Nature Publishing Group. By organizing papers and web focus projects on large-scale biology into this comprehensive, regularly updated, one-stop web portal, Omics Gateway hopes to help quickly reach the resources needed and keep scientists up-to-date with the most significant research in that area.

NOAH: New York Online Access to Health
The NOAH site provides resources in English and Spanish regarding a wide variety of health care topics. The site provides a wealth of information about various genetic diseases.

World Health Organization
The WHO is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system. It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends. The site is published in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.

Your Genes Your Choice: Exploring the Issues Raised By Genetic Research
Your Genes, Your Choices is a book that describes the Human Genome Project, the science behind it and the ethical, legal and social issues that are raised by the project. This book was written as part of the Science + Literacy for Health project of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
